A major maritime disaster is unfolding in Indonesia after the Virgo Transport 8 ferry capsized in the Java Sea while traveling from Surabaya to Banjarmasin. The vessel was carrying 243 people, including passengers and crew. As of September 14, six people have been confirmed dead, 108 rescued and 129 remain missing. Rescue teams continue searching the waters while authorities investigate what caused the ferry to overturn.
