Tesla Prepares to Launch Cybercab in Austin: The Driverless Future Moves Closer

The future of transportation may be getting a little closer to reality. Tesla is preparing to launch its purpose-built Cybercab in Austin, Texas, this month, according to recent reports, with Tesla employees expected to experience some of the first rides before the service expands more broadly to the public.
The planned rollout represents an important moment for Tesla's long-running ambition to build a fully autonomous ride-hailing network. Unlike Tesla's existing vehicles adapted for robotaxi services, the Cybercab was designed specifically around autonomous transportation.
And perhaps its most striking feature is what it doesn't have: a steering wheel or pedals.
The Cybercab is a two-seat vehicle created specifically for autonomous transportation. Its interior is designed around the idea that passengers are no longer responsible for driving. There is no conventional steering wheel and no accelerator or brake pedal in the production configuration.
